Talking To Yourself

Psalm 42:5

Do you ever look at the difficulties and trials in your life and then start talking to yourself? If you don’t, then you’re probably a very small minority. At some point, everyone of us has taken stock of our lives or at least our current situation and started thinking: There’s no way out of this. Things are never going to get better…at least not anytime soon. This is just the way things are going to be for me…there’s nothing I can do about it. This just isn’t fair! Of course, we as believers know to be careful not to listen to the voices of the world and of the enemy of our souls, the devil. But it’s also important that we don’t allow our own voices to drown out that of our heavenly Father. So when you find yourself muttering to yourself about the hopelessness or unfairness of your situation, turn your attention to the Lord, who is big enough and more than willing to take control of everything going on around you and you. As the apostle Peter put it, “Cast your cares on Him because He cares for you.”
