Receiving God’s Mercy

John 9:39

If you feel like you can’t figure out how to draw near to God or if you struggle with particular sins, then you’re right where Jesus can help you. In fact, the bigger problem is if you think you have your act together and have no need for His mercy. Jesus came to reveal your true spiritual state. You can either resist His offer of mercy or you can fight it, claiming that you’re good enough on your own and have no need for Him and His help. Ironically, the more you insist on your wisdom and holiness, the less hope you have! Your only hope is to stop pretending that you can see spiritually and fully admit your need for God‘s mercy. Jesus knows fully how blind and lost you are. He came to seek you out, to reveal that He’s not interested in people putting on a brave face and acting as if they have things together. If you come to Him with honesty and a complete dependence on His mercy, you are in the best position to receive His help and experience true restoration.
